I’ve always been good at fixing things.

Busted engines. Broken fences. Tractors held together by rust and prayer.

Then I find a beautiful blonde stranded on a Texas backroad with a dying car, wary green eyes, and enough curves to make me forget what I was doing under her hood.

The car? I can fix.

The woman is another story.

She’s only in Stillgrass long enough to get back on her feet, and trusting another man isn’t high on her list.

Fair enough.

I’m not looking to play hero.

But somehow she ends up working beside me on the ranch, laughing with my rowdy brothers, baking things that ought to be illegal, and spending enough time in my workshop that I start looking forward to seeing her more than I should.

And when she finally lets me close?

I’m in a whole lot of trouble.

Because beneath all that caution is a funny, stubborn, talented woman who’s remembering how to smile.

And I’m falling hard enough to start imagining her staying.

There’s just one problem.

The past she ran from isn’t finished with her yet.

Every instinct I have says to protect her. To solve the problem. To make sure nobody ever puts that fear back in her eyes.

But there’s one thing this cowboy can’t fix.

Her.

I can only stand beside her while she finds her own strength again.

And if her future isn’t here in Stillgrass, I’ll have to let her go.

But if she wants this little Texas town, my crazy family, and a cowboy who’s already gone and fallen in love with her?
